In the past I have described myself as a scientific artist, an artistic scientist, anyway you cut it, I’m not your typical Dentist. I have a degree in Biochemistry and Art because I always loved math and science, but I was also so full of creative energy and ideas.
I think that’s still true today. Although, I am not currently practicing dentistry, I still have a full-time job as CEO of my household, raising 4 delightful children, managing the construction of our dream home, and I have started this new venture on the world wide web. I still use my calculating creativity frequently, but not on masterpieces or the perfect prep for a filling or crown. Now, I devote my skills to magical birthday parties, charitable events, and most of all, my home.
I love decorating my home. I decorate from season to season, parties, and events. I really do enjoy it. But, my first taste of true interior design didn’t come until I was pregnant with my fourth child, and living in my husband’s childhood home.
We moved back to Joplin, Missouri in 2013 and moved right into the home my husband lived in from the time he was three until he started medical school. It was my husband’s late father’s wish for us to move back to Joplin and move into the home he and his wife raised three amazing children in. However, before I agreed to taking over the family estate, the honey badger in me (see FUN) asked my mother-in-law directly and to the point, “Will you be Okay if I change… everything?” I wasn’t kidding, I wanted to really change just about everything. Not because I didn’t like her style, but because I wanted to make this wonderful home a reflection of me. Luckily, she looked at me with bright eyes and said, “Of course, I can’t wait to see what you do with it!” (Yes, I am blessed with the world’s best MIL.)
